The Brief

Bartosiewicz & Partners approached the Small Room to create new branding after the restructuring and renaming of their previous company BCH Legal. Joanna Bartosiewicz was looking to create something completely different and get away from the typical legal iconography associated with the old logo and that of other law firms.

She wanted the logo to reflect the new firm’s values of understanding, personal, quality, reliability, spirited, modern. To show they have roots and tradition and have reliability but they think modern.

The Solution

After working on a number of options (both typographic and icon based) we decided on using a tree as the main icon with a clean san-serif typeface, the concept was to subvert this tree enough to give it a modern look so as to avoid it looking too traditional. We did this by distorting the shape of the leaves to create an abstract shape and something that is more playful and less formal or traditional.

With the colours, we developed a colour palette not usually connected with the natural greens and oranges associated with a tree but used purple hues to represent quality and tradition and a duck egg blue as an accent colour to represent modernity and playfulness.
